David has been playing guitar since he was 13 years old when is fascination with the guitar shredders of the 80’s began. Although he was enthralled with their musical style, he soon realized his talent and ability was rooted more in blues and the graceful playing of David Gilmour from Pink Floyd. Artists like Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin, and Eric Clapton became his idols and he sensed a connection with their music over other genres.

With the transition to the 90’s came a revival of the type of music David had first been enthralled with and he looked to bands like Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains, and Pearl Jam for inspiration. At this time, he also started exercising his singing abilities in addition to expanding his musical catalog by learning more instruments. Adding piano, then bass and finally drums gave David a full range of musical ability as he focused on his classical training. Shifting from his original style, he embraced his classical training education, gaining great insight into music composition and eventually moved into the realm of music writing. However, he could not quite shed his rocker roots and his unconventional style did not quite lend itself to the realm of classical music. Embracing the rock n’ roll lifestyle, David took on the role of lead guitarist in an Old Time Rock cover band, playing gigs across Ventura County and nourishing his passion for performing live.

After college, David put his music career temporarily on hold to serve in the U.S. Navy, but his passion and talent never weakened and after four years he was instantly back on the music scene. He enrolled in the Musician’s Institute in Hollywood where he expanded and refined his skill set over several years. Looking to expand his musical abilities even further, he directed his education toward songwriting but soon realized life experience, rather than formal education was the best teacher for that particular skill set. Ignoring the rules and writing from the heart became his new approach to songwriting. His personal motto reflects his pure love for music: “It doesn’t matter where you are in your life, as long as you are writing music for you, then you are writing the right music.” David has continued to write songs and play in bands over the years, while embarking on his solo career in which he writes and composes his own music.
